At the end of April 1940, the city was experiencing a large amount of multiple alarm fires.
On this day, Truck Company 3 was responded to the third alarm of fire, stuck out in downtown Baltimore.
While responding down Baltimore Street, Truck Company 3 was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Exeter Street.
Police reported the operator of the other vehicle failed to give right of way to the responded apparatus.
No members were injuired, however the two occupant of the vehicle were taken to Mercy Hospital.
April 1940 ended with a very busy department
As April 1940 was coming to an end the department was facing some trying times.
The department was still finishing up its fifth extra alarm fire in a week, most of them occurring in downtown.
