Three new fire boats dedicated 1960

October 1960 promising time for the Marine division

 

Three sister ships, the P.W. Wilkinson, the August Emrich, and the Mayor J. Howard Grady we’re dedicated and placed into service at Pier 7.

This action saw the retirement of the fire boats Cataract, the Deluge, and the Cascade.

Each of these vessels carried a crew of eight from the fire department Marine division. Their cost in 1960 was $350,000 each.
